Into the Blue

The ocean always takes my breath away. Here in Thailand we have the Gulf mid year and the Andaman Sea the rest of the year. I am a recreational diver and the beauty of the ocean is oh so amazing. We are truly surrounded by this mysterious beauty. This absolutely stunning symbiotic eco system and I always surface in awe of the experience I get to witness.

The diving started off being about exploration and understanding the ocean. It was about overcoming my fear of trying something out of my comfort zone. Over the years, it developed into a sort of meditation. When I am down there, everything calms, I hear my own breathing and some bubbles, but nothing else. I see the most beautiful beings around me minding their own business. It makes me more observant, noticing the small behaviours rather than just looking out for the big stuff. I feel tiny but in a good way, my worries are tiny and my fears become tiny. I remember there is so much more out there that we can experience and enjoy.

Someone said they were really drawn to the colours of my ocean paintings, it keeps them mesmerised. All I can say is that, I paint with the colours of the ocean. It is her boundless beauty speaking through my art. I am just a vessel sharing glimpses of the ocean with you.

There is definitely ocean for everyone, let’s just make sure we respect her power as much as her beauty.
